CNN —Another day, another record broken by Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. In the Hawkeyes’ 95-62 Big Ten Tournament win against the Penn State Lady Lions on Friday, Clark eclipsed NBA star Steph Curry’s record of most three-pointers hit in a single NCAA Division-I season. However, Clark has now surpassed the man who many consider the greatest three-point shooter in the history of basketball. Clark eventually found her groove and was able to sink the crucial three to write her name in yet another page of the history books. In a win against the Ohio State Buckeyes on March 3, Clark overtook Hall of Famer “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s record of 3,667 points.

Two weeks after she broke the record for women, Caitlin Clark has become NCAA Division I basketball's overall top scorer, period. The Iowa Hawkeyes star went into Sunday's game against the Ohio State Buckeyes needing 17 points to break "Pistol Pete" Maravich's record of 3,667 career points, which stood for more than 50 years. Clark, 22, earned the women's record Feb. 15 when she scored eight points in a game against Michigan and passed Kelsey Plum's 3,527 career points in her career, which ended in 2017. She put up 33 points against Minnesota on Wednesday to cement her place atop the all-time career points among women to play for major colleges. Maravich's NCAA men's scoring record was 3,667 points, which he set playing for LSU from 1968 to 1970.

New York CNN —Caitlin Clark made history Thursday as women’s college basketball’s all-time leading scorer. The total market for commercial NIL deals for college athletes is expected to reach an estimated $200 million in 2024, according to Opendorse, an online platform that helps connect athletes with NIL deals. The growing public profiles of college athletes has also meant additional funds for their schools and athletics programs. TickPick estimates the game will be the most expensive in women’s college basketball history. This past Sunday, Nebraska’s victory over Iowa in Lincoln attracted 1.7 million viewers — the most-watched women’s college basketball game ever on Fox Sports.

Clark ended Thursday with 3,569 career points and could set the all-time scoring record in men’s and women’s NCAA basketball history before the season’s end. The late Pete Maravich, who played at Louisiana State for three seasons from 1967 to 1970, holds that record – 3,667 points. Her 49 points Thursday also was a one-game best for her in college, and a one-game best for any University of Iowa women’s basketball player. Before Thursday’s game, at Iowa’s weekly news conference, Clark was asked if she ever thought she could be in a position to surpass the career scoring record. I think that’s been one of the coolest parts.”This season, Clark and Iowa are looking to end the season on a high by claiming a first ever women’s basketball national championship.
